Cantor Arik Y. Luck

Cantor Arik Luck joined Beth Emet in July, 2009 after receiving his masters of sacred music and cantorial investiture from Hebrew Union College-Jewish Institute of Religion (HUC-JIR) in New York City. While at HUC-JIR, Cantor Luck was the recipient of the Israel Goldstein Award, the award given to a student who demonstrates the highest degree of fluency in traditional worship music. He brings expertise in both Reform and traditional worship styles, as well as in piano, guitar, percussion, theatre directing, and production.

Cantor Luck received a Bachelor of Fine Arts from Carnegie Mellon University’s School of Drama in acting and musical theatre. His love for Judaism, teaching and signing prompted his application to cantorial school. While still in school, Cantor Luck gained a wealth of cantorial experience, including serving as part-time cantorial presence at Temple Beth Shalom in Arnold, MD, and leading a variety of services at North Shore Congregation Israel in Glencoe, IL.

Cantor Luck lives in Evanston, IL with his wife, Rachel, and son, Yedidyah.
