JUST CONGREGATIONS

Beth Emet is excited to be a part of Just Congregations”. This new model of bottom up community organizing from the URJ to engage membership to find out what they are concerned about has been highly successful. Temple Sinai in Chicago and other congregations across the country have been successful in finding out what their members care about most and has resulted in taking actions to do something about their concerns.

We are enthusiastic about “Just Congregations” and want to see it succeed here at Beth Emet. We will launch this initiative in the beginning of 5768. The date for our training session will be Sunday, October 7, 2007 during religious school. Matt McDermott, a skilled trainer from United Power and Justice, will be our trainer. With the training, we hope a cadre of us will be fortified with knowledge and skills to connect with members.

To find out more information, check out the URJ website, the press release from the URJ, a wonderful article recently in the New York Times or a past issue of Sh'ma.

To participate in this project and become a Beth Emet member who will conduct the one-on-one meetings with congregants please call: Emily Axelrod at 847-251-0433 or Patti Gerbie at 312-951-0687.
