About Just Congregations

During the past year, Beth Emet has been participating in the Union For Reform Judaism’s new initiative, Just Congregations. Just Congregations is a national effort to promote congregation-based community organizing around social justice issues. It is teaching Reform Jewish synagogues all over the country how to strengthen relationships within their congregations, to reach out to the broader community, and to become more effective in combating injustices. As part of the Just Congregations effort, Beth Emet members have held focused one-on-one conversations with fellow congregants to identify a common set of social concerns so that we can bring our collective power to bear.

We welcome you to be a part of the Just Congregations movement at Beth Emet.  Be interviewed or become trained to be an interviewer. Let us know how you would like to participate by calling either Emily Axelrod at 847 251 0433 or Patti Gerbie at 312 951 0687, by sending a quick e-mail to just@bethemet.org or when you are at Beth Emet, asking for the sign-up sheet. We will contact you. With your cooperation we will succeed in reaching out to all members of Beth Emet and we will build a true congregational response.
