Bekki Harris Kaplan

Bekki Harris Kaplan joined Beth Emet's professional team in July 2001 after working as the Membership Director and Associate Executive Director at Temple Sholom of Chicago. In addition to supervising the functioning of Beth Emet's day-to-day operations and working closely with leadership, she focuses her abundant energy and enthusiasm on helping congregants connect with each other and with Beth Emet's committees, programs, and worship services.

She has extensive experience in Jewish organizations, having previously worked as a Field Consultant with the Chicago Chapter of Hadassah; as Midwest Regional Director of Young Judaea, a national Zionist youth movement; and as Assistant Camp Director of Camp Young Judaea in Wisconsin.

Bekki earned her bachelor's degree from Indiana University in business, journalism and Jewish Studies, a master's degree in human services administration from Spertus College of Judaica, and has worked towards a master's degree in Jewish communal services at Spertus. She is a senior member of the National Association of Temple Administrators (NATA), a member of the NATA National Board, has worked on numerous NATA Committees and national conventions, and served as the President of Chicago-area Association of Synagogue Administration (CASA). Bekki is a graduate of Leadership Evanston (2005), a volunteer for the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation, and considers herself a local activist on a variety of issues. Bekki’s strong belief in the value of a strong cohesive Jewish community comes from her own experiences as a child growing up in West Lafayette, Indiana. Bekki lives in Evanston with her husband, Dan, and two children, Hannah and Eitan.
