Cantor Erin Frankel Cantor Frankel joined Beth Emet in July
2003 after receiving her masters of sacred music and cantorial investiture from
Hebrew Union College-Jewish Institute of Religion (HUC-JIR) in New York City.
Devoted to sharing her love of Jewish music with the community, Cantor Frankel
focuses on making it a meaningful part of synagogue life by integrating a wide
variety of musical experiences with worship, religious school, and programming.
She was inspired to apply to HUC-JIR by her intensive love of Jewish music and her experience working as a soloist, music teacher, and b'nei mitzvah tutor for Temple Israel of Boston after graduating from Columbia University with a bachelor's degree in political science. While a student at HUC-JIR, she served as student cantor at Brooklyn Heights Synagogue in New York City, as Jewish educator at Camp Charles Pearlstein in Prescott, Arizona, and as an intern at Transcontinental Music Publications, the music publisher of the URJ. In 2002, she was awarded the Cantor Israel Goldstein Prize for excellence in traditional chazzanut and for displaying the qualities of warmth and integrity so valued in the cantorial profession. Since arriving in the Chicago area, she has performed at various concert events, including appearances with Hazzan Alberto Mizrahi and Kol Zimrah. She lives in Evanston with her husband David and their daughters Sivan and Meital. Send email to Cantor Frankel |
