The kids who are in Chassamba are at an age when they are beginning to experience many changes in their lives ranging from the physical to the emotional to the spiritual. Chassamba provides a community in which they can feel comfortable and share the joys and struggles of these changes in a supportive Jewish environment.
In our Chassamba program, students in 6th, 7th and 8th grades continue the opportunities for social interaction that begin with our younger youth group (Yid Kids); however, we also begin to offer more religious and social action programming. There is a Chassamba event each month of the school year, which gives the kids time to develop friendships and a strong sense of community. Additionally, our programs keep in mind the fact that this age group encompasses a broad range of maturity levels and strives to create an atmosphere that speaks to the entirety of that spectrum.
Chassamba also offers kids the opportunity to take on leadership roles through the Chassamba board, which works with the youth group advisor on planning and implementing programs thoughout the year.
