Susan Melczer, Immediate Past President
Susan and her late husband, Andy, joined Beth Emet more than 30 years ago when they were graduate students at Northwestern University. Beth Emet became their second home and the center of their lives as they raised their children – Alissa (26), Micah (24) and Jacob (20). Andy served as President of Beth Emet from 1991–93. In addition to serving on the Board, Susan was co-chairperson of the long-range planning, funeral practices, and Simferopol Partnership committees, and of the search committees that brought Rabbi London and Cantor Frankel to the synagogue. She is a founding member of the Progressive Chevra Kadisha. Since 1986, Susan has been the director, patient financial services, for the Metropolitan Chicago Healthcare Council.
