High Holidays

Beth Emet offers a variety of worship options for Rosh Hashanah and Yom Kippur. Services are held in the main sanctuary, and there are a variety of worship opportunities. Please click here for the 5772/2011 High Holiday Service schedule. Tickets are required for our Adult and Chavurah Services. To find more information about the High Holidays at Beth Emet, please click here.

Tickets for non-members (non-relatives) are available for purchase. Our High Holiday services are just one aspect of the Beth Emet community, and we encourage you to explore joining our diverse and welcoming congregation. A first year membership is less than the price of two high holiday tickets. For more information about membership, click here.

College and Graduate students are welcome to worship with the Congregation. We ask that students present valid student identification at the door to ensure their entry. (Each student must have his/her own valid ID).

Adult Services
Services are conducted by Rabbi Andrea C. London, Cantor Arik Y. Luck, and the Beth Emet Choir.  On Rosh HaShanah there is one evening service at 8:00 p.m. and for Yom Kippur Kol Nidre is held at 6:00 p.m. and 8:30 p.m. Morning services will begin at 11:30 a.m. for Rosh HaShanah and 11:15 a.m. for Yom Kippur. (Please note the difference in start times.) Babysitting is available to families with children eight years old and younger.

In July each member household will receive a High Holiday Confirmation Form to make changes regarding tickets or notify us of other special arrangements you may need during the holidays (e.g. babysitting, handicapped parking passes and/or additional prayer books).

Chavurah Services
Chavurah services are open to families with school-age children and other congregants interested in attending an alternative service to the traditional Beth Emet High Holiday experience. The Chavurah Service is a highly participatory and inclusive service designed to offer an innovative and meaningful blend of old and new with which to begin the New Year. Lively singing and music will be led by Cantor Luck, and Barb Wertico. We will provide the prayer book, and the service will include special communal activities, readings, songs, and Torah study. After the conclusion of the first day of Rosh HaShanah, there will be a communal walk to the beach for Tashlich, the symbolic casting away of sins. The Babysitting will be available for children five and younger. Please note if you will need babysitting on the High Holiday Confirmation Form.

Young Children's Services
Young Children’s Services are geared towards families with children through preschool age. Services will take place at 2:30 p.m. on the First Day of Rosh HaShanah and on Yom Kippur. Both Services are held in the Sanctuary and are open to the community. Young Children’s Services include a lot of singing, Beth Emet’s own junior shofar blowers, and a story.

Adult Study
Additional opportunities for study during the High Holidays at 9:30 a.m. on Yom Kippur morning and at 1:30 p.m. on Yom Kippur afternoon. Selected texts will explore the themes of the season — renewal, healing, repentance, and forgiveness.
